NIH-funded:

• Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA (F31) - Support to individuals to enable promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training while conducting dissertation research
• Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA (F31-diversity) - Same as F31 above, but also designed to enhance the diversity of the health-related research workforce by supporting the research training of predoctoral students from diverse backgrounds including those from groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research workforce
• Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Predoctoral MD/PhD or Other Dual-Doctoral Degree (F30) - To enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g., DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists
• NINDS Postdoctoral NRSA Fellowship (late stage grad students eligible) - Similar support to Parent F32, but different requirements and eligibility (read carefully). Applicants are eligible to apply within approximately 12 months prior to joining a postdoctoral laboratory to within the first 12 months of starting in that laboratory.
• BRAIN Initiative Research Supplements to Promote Diversity - Administrative supplements to currently active NIH BRAIN Initiative research grants to support the training of underrepresented individuals and enhance the diversity of the research workforce
• Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research - Administrative supplements to currently active NIH research grants to support the training of underrepresented individuals and enhance the diversity of the research workforce
• Blueprint D-SPAN Award (F99/K00) - The NIH Blueprint Diversity Specialized Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Advancement in Neuroscience (D-SPAN) Award supports the pre- to post-doctoral transition of diverse graduate students
• Director's Early Independence Award (DP5) - Supports outstanding junior scientists with the intellect, scientific creativity, drive, and maturity bypass the traditional postdoctoral training period to launch independent research careers
• Supplements to Promote Diversity in Research and Development Small Businesses-SBIR/STTR - Administrative supplements to active NIH SBIR/STTR grants to enhance the diversity of the research workforce and increase the participation of women and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in small businesses
• HEAL Initiative Research Supplements to Promote Diversity - Administrative supplements to currently active NINDS research HEAL grants to support the training of underrepresented individuals and enhance the diversity of the research workforce
• Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research - Administrative supplements to currently active NINDS research AD/ADRD grants to support the training of underrepresented individuals and enhance the diversity of the research workforce
• Graduate Summer Opportunities to Advance Research (G-SOAR) Program - Summer research and leadership internship for PhD students and MS graduates entering PhD programs.

• Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship

  To increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students

• Burroughs Wellcome Fund Postdoctoral Enrichment Program

  The Postdoctoral Enrichment Program (PDEP) provides a total of $60,000 over three years to support the career development activities for underrepresented minority postdoctoral fellows

• L’Oréal Fellowship for Women in Science

  Recognizes and rewards five U.S.-based women researchers at the beginning of their scientific careers. Recipients each receive up to $60,000 that must be put towards their postdoctoral research

• HHMI Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program

  To increase diversity in the biomedical research community by providing funding for postdoctoral training and during early career years as independent faculty

• Simons Foundation Bridge to Independence Award

  Engages talented early-career scientists in autism research by facilitating their transition to research independence and providing grant funding at the start of their professorships at a U.S. or Canadian research institution

• American Epilepsy Society Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

  Supports postdoctoral trainees conducting research into the causes, treatment, and consequences of epilepsy under the guidance of a mentor with expertise in epilepsy research. Proposals are welcomed across the spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical epilepsy research.

• Citizens United in Research for Epilepsy Taking Flight Award

  To promote the careers of young epilepsy investigators to allow them to develop a research focus independent of their mentor(s)

• Society for Science Branco Weiss Fellowship

  Awards young researchers around the world with a generous personal research grant, giving them the freedom to work on whatever topic they choose anywhere in the world, for up to five years

• National Ataxia Foundation (NAF) Awards
